I would like a deeper dive because, as you say, unless you spend time looking deeply at some art, you miss so much. Also, I know there is much symbolically that I miss. However, I'm limited in funds. You are my 5th paid subscription to Substack and I can't really spend more moola on a limited income. Unless I don't eat much (which, come to think of it, would be a great idea...). Anyway, I like the idea very much - just a bit wary how much more I'd have to spend for courses on top of paid subscription.
Well, I'm going to go into more depth in the paid section, so I'm sure you'll get more out of it as we go along. And a course is just an extra thing. You can buy it any time, since it won't be necessarily connected to anything else. So whenever you feel a bit flush, you can buy one and it stays yours forever. Podia the course platform I'm thinking of using sells you permanent access, so it's pay once and then it's yours. And I'll be doing pdf downloads as free extras in the paid section too. (I'm also planning to do some little paintings and drawings of my own that people can download and print as cards or bookmarks or whatever, just for fun.)
Thank you, Hilary - you are very generous. I look forward to what you come up with. Each issue of the Novus Ordo "Magnificat" missal has a painting at the back of the book that some art expert breaks down, and I find these very helpful. So you are on to something needed!
I would like to support your work but I’m not technically sophisticated enough to participate in anything fancy. But, my dear, you are providing so much joy to this old gal with the stuff I’m able to see now that I’m happy. I’ll send you some cash when my hubby isn’t looking. Meanwhile keep going. It may be a slow climb to a long list of paying customers but it will come. God is often very good to good people.
I like the idea of mini courses. I'm wary of signing up for subscriptions as I'm afraid I'm going to forget to check or life will get in the way, but a course sounds more closed and manageable.
Well, the nice thing about the way Substack works is that every post arrives in your email, so you don't have to remember to come back to the site and check. If you click on the free subscription you'll get the idea very quickly.
Well, the good thing is: a) the course will be out there to purchase any time you feel a bit more flush. b) "mini" means just that, so it won't be a big ticket item. c) I'm going to be adding a lot f downloadable "extras" into the paid members section so if you stick with it long enough you can probably end up doing your own course in the end...

I truly enjoyed this! The Ghent Altarpiece is a favorite of mine and don’t I wish I stared at it at Mass every Sunday! ❤️

I’m a HUGE art lover so, yes, I’d love some mini courses. But I’m also unemployed at the moment so I’m not willing to spend much.

I will pay for the mini courses. You can host them on another platform and provide us with some PDFs too if you have time.
Excellent. That is exactly the plan. We're on the same page.
I'll cross that bridge when you come to it ! Thanks for all the good stuff up til now.
YES! I know your poll is closed, but yes : this is absolutely catnip to me, something I’d happily pay for.
