A few months ago on my Facebook page, Hilary White; Sacred Art, I floated the idea of a home schooling programme or curriculum to teach children and their parents some of the fundamentals of Christian Sacred Art.
The art world today is an arm of finance. Rich people buy art as investments, as a form of diversification of their portfolio (real estate, stocks, bonds, crypto currency, gold). The number of art works sitting in vaults is enormous. They’re kept there for safety so even the owners don’t get to enjoy them in their houses. Because the rich today don’t care about beauty. It’s all about money.
Yes, it is an arm of finance. And worse, this finance makes it possible to be also an arm of cultural change. Here in Portugal we are mourning the recent death of Paula Rego, one of the "great influencers and artists of this century". Her most acclaimed work was a series on abortion and "abortion rights". TIL she had 11 abortions.
Excellent move away from the latest current thing(s). I like your choice of the Palatine in Palmero - the culture of Norman Sicily is magnificent in its artistic expression. That move from Warlord-Baron to Byzantine-Norman King is brilliantly expressed in the mosaics and architecture. I look forward to what follows!
This is great. I look forward to more from you on sacred art.-Jack
Excellent project.

"A culture tired of itself." Bingo! Nail on the head! Thank you, I shall use that.
